UpdateGraphic ~ Poster ‘Our Little Story’
I had also finished the Chibi Cartoon Portrait Poster for Wedding that Joelle had commissioned together with the Cartoon Story Montage for their wedding in Nov09. It was completed on the 3rd of October.
I will be starting their montage this week and finishing it by this month.
I had difficulty drawing this initially as the pose was a bit tough for chibi characters. Their heads are bigger than their bodies and they will crash together. So I had to turn the face and kept referrencing from different pictures because the position of the suit also had to change. Then, I couldn’t decide to go with cream or white cos the guy’s suit look cream to me. But decided to just make it white with some cream shadows to match the whole FairyTale Theme.
The moment I saw her pose and her gown, I thought of a princess because she’s so beautiful. Then, I thought to put a castle behind them since they are the Prince and Princess. Because it’s fairytale like, it MUST be pastel colours, so I chose pastel green, pastel pink, pastel blue for the sky. The Funny thing is, Only after somewhat completing leaving only their names, when I went back to her emails to check their surnames(slip of my mind), then I read that Joelle had requested ‘FairyTale’, “Pastel Colours”.
Oh my, what if she had wanted other things? I might had to re-do again. Phew! Luckily, we are on the same frame of thought. Must not be so careless next time.
Her gown design is kept simple for the bust area and instead focus on the bottom gown layer with fluffy layers which I thought for a while on how to portray it in cartoon. Glad I could still make it look natural, with some transparency given and overlapping her hands abit.
All in all, this is something fresh for me since I seldom do posters in light pastel colours. Usually, they are loud, bright, warm colours.
This Cartoon Poster is drawn to be like a Movie Poster with their names on top and credits below. Also some accompanying phrase that one usually see in posters. That’s why it look so different from the usual Cartoon Posters for Wedding which I had been doing. The idea is to display it in the reception as if the guests are coming to their wedding to see a movie of their love story (which is the montage I did for them).

Below is The Close-Up details for the poster which is in A3 size printable to A1.
