I love flash stories, especially mandarin ones.^_^ I often surf the net for the stories, getting inspiration for my own and try out the techniques. There are a lot more mandarin flash stories that focus on love and feelings. English ones tend to focus more on humor, gore and violence.

Flash animation stories isn’t something new in the market. Back in 2002, I was introduced to the ‘Ah Gui’ series and also clips at showgood.com. Those clips were funny and provide entertainment in a few minutes. I was fascinated that animation need not be a huge production that you see in Japanese Anime Movies. It could just be a few minutes using a simple software, Macromedia Flash.

After that, I found Kokoro Animation located in Taiwan and was amazed that stories could really be drawn and put up in the internet, complete with mandarin voice-dubbing and music.Though I was inspired by them, I did not have the time to pursue this area of interest and thus could only eagerly await their stories.

It started from a small company doing free animation. Til now, it has evolved into a huge company which publishes flash story books you can find in Popular Bookstore. It also offers many mobile services to download their animation. I grew with them and witness their success but I’m only one person, unable to do it like them.

Much later, I stumbled on Flash Empire and found that ordinary people were submitting their works online for others to view. It really strikes me that there were so many talented artists in China. Some are just mere students or teenagers but their works were witty, professional and free for all to view. Professional small studios also submit their works there and it’s often very good entertainment. I often surf the site when I’m not so busy to view the stories.

As written in my ‘about’, to produce flash stories of my own is something I dream. However, there’s bread and butter to consider. How would someone earn from doing free stories which require tremendous amount of time? Besides, there are many things which I still need to learn about, which I’m not good at and one person really couldn’t produce professional animation in good time through self-learning. It is thus my dream and when I do not need to worry about bread and butter (that’s reality), that’s when you will see my stories brought across to the internet audience because I love writing and drawing my own stories.

Today’s Flash I Heart: Cute Lovers ~ Precious Gift . It’s an action packed story and something I wish I can do for others and myself. But drawing every single frame of action would certainly take a loooong time. I’m really impressed with this guy at Tian Wen Xuan.
